LFW Outfit: Day 3

I can't even tell you how excited I was every time someone asked me about my jacket today. Was over the moon to be wearing an original Charlie May item. This jacket is unbelievably gorgeous. It's the sample from Charlie's collection but she was kind enough to let me swagger around today in it. I'm so in love with it that I'm planning on having a black one specially made to see me through autumn and then in the spring this soft milky pink one. Did I mention recently that I was on the hunt for the perfect leather jacket? Mhmm. I'm so happy to have found the one and even happier to be able to support emerging talent.

Also sporting a pair of Balenciaga boots that I snapped up in Zurich from a charity shop called Caritas. It's the same place I found the Issey Miyake orange skirt from yesterday. Getting designer duds and giving to charity at the same time?! Umm, I literally can't think of anything better.

Wearing: jacket by Charlie May (check out her site for contact details if you'd like more info on her collection), Balenciaga boots (bought from Caritas), J.Crew tank, Monki skirt, leopard wrist clutch by LiLiFi (via HPR), YSL arty ring, and jupiter bracelets from Robinson Pelham. Photos by Shini.

LFW Day 2

Daks

Walking into DAKS at 9am was like a breath of fresh air. There were videos playing with footage from the British seaside in the 1950s and brightly coloured sweets were on each seat. Any lack of excitement I was feeling at being awake that early was instantly zapped away. This collection was filled with an endless supply of incredibly gorgeous pieces. I very rarely say this, but I'd honestly wear every outfit from the collection. The silhouettes were so feminine and flattering without falling into the overdone fifties cliche. I seriously loved it.

Masha Ma

Masha Ma was one of my favourite shows last year. Whenever I think about aw11 I always think about the final walk at their show - they had the most incredible patent red boots. Those red boots have completely solidified what this season is about for me. So, I had high expectations today and the collection didn't disappoint. It had plenty of origami folded pieces (swoon), sheer panelling (love) and the most beautiful asymmetric draped skirts. Completely coveting the entire outfit on the model below to the far left. I love the silhouette of the short skirt over the more fitted sheer under-layer and the print is gorgeous. Oh, and Masha Ma do the most beautiful things with leather...

Ashish

I always love the day that Ashish is showing because there's so many people around wearing sequins. Almost all the pieces are in Ashish's shows are covered entirely in sequins... patterns included lots of vibrant flowers and big brick prints. Loved the styling with the flowers coming out of the boots. The pale skin, dark lips and straw hats were perfect. Also, absolutely loved the simple dresses with draped backs... from now on I'll be dreaming in sequins.

LFW Outfit: Day 2

Today the weather was topsy turvy - it went back and forth between scorching sunshine and torrential rain all day long. The truth is, heels really aren't for me and so I ditched them and went for what I really like. Hah, that's right: converse. Felt unbelievably comfy today and was happy to act as the balancing chauffeur to everyone wearing impossibly high heels. Accidentally made the mistake of waiting until the end of the day to take photos of my outfit... hence the slightly worn out expression. Whoops.

Wearing: Issey Miyake Pleats Please skirt (purchased from Caritas in Zurich), Iro vest (via My Wardrobe), Converse, American Apparel bag, Weekday bracelet/ring and Bottletop clutch.

LFW Day 1 - Take2

In true ironic fashion my blog has decided to go a bit haywire. It happened last night at 2am when I was trying to get my photos uploaded from yesterday. The gallery feature has decided to stop working. So, instead of uploading a gazillion big images I've decided to try something a little different - the catwalk collage. Consider this a little test run. These are the remaining catwalk images from Day 1 that didn't make it up last night. Gave up fighting wordpress at about 2:30am and had to admit defeat.

Corrie Nielsen

Gravity was defied at Corrie Nielsen. Her sculptural cocoon like silhouettes strictly embraced each model, creating an Edwardian-cum-Asian feast for the eyes. Incredibly beautiful and so captivating.

Bora Aksu Bora Aksu was beautiful. Collection started with a tribe of models lined up in a row that marched down the catwalk in unison - such a strong impact. I wasn't expecting to love the designs as much as I did. They couple vulnerability with an eerie darkness and look cobweb in nature - almost like they'd fall to pieces if too strong of a wind hit them. Definitely one of my favourite shows of the day.

Please note: unless otherwise stated, all images are my own. If you use them please credit accordingly.

LFW Outfit: Day 1

Hi there. It's the end of Day 2 of LFW... I meant to post these photos earlier but I've been experiencing some slight technical difficulties with this here little blog. Yikes. Bad timing, hey? Anyway. So, this is what I wore yesterday. Never ever want to take off this leather vest. I feel like it goes with everything. Seriously embracing colour at the moment and I like it. Just wait til you see the skirt I wore today - yiikes - it was Bright (so bright it got a capital b). For now though, enjoy this little bright red and yellow, denim-leather combination.

Iro waistcoat and Moschino Cheap & Chic trousers (My Wardrobe), Maison Scotch shirt, Robinson Pelham jupiter bracelets (via Golden Goose PR), Celine bag, Zara shoes, and Super sunglasses. Photos by Shini.

LFW Day 1

[nggallery id=60]

After four shows, covering one backstage, and wearing a pair of heels all day that just about broke my ankle I'm feeling ready to crash into bed. So, I'll keep this short and sweet. Currently loving all the revamped grunge looks that are rearing their head. The combination of cable knits, slouchy beanie, thick gold necklace, pleated leather, and purple Prada clutch won the look on the left the spot as my favourite outfit from the day. Also, loving Daniella's vintage ckOne t-shirt and faux snakeskin skirt.Pictured below from left: Matthew Zorpas, Charlie May in her own design (swoon), Daniella and Jackie in velvet boots, Frances in a mixture of grey (always a good idea) plus Kit and her braided silk scarf.

[nggallery id=59]

Just barely made it into PPQ - was one of the last people let in and was so glad not to have been turned away. Was totally mesmerized by this pink haired model (that hair colour and those lips?! so good). The show felt like a combination of Zorro and Beverly Hills new money circa 1995. It was brash and super wearable - kind of loved it.

Get ready...

Everybody that knows me knows that I get way too overexcited about London Fashion Week. The buzz of it still just hasn't worn off. So, my feet will ache for six days straight, I'll be dehydrated, and loopy with the intoxication of it all... I wont sleep enough or eat enough and I'll have my camera permanently attached to my hand at all times. But, the truth is I still have to pinch myself because seriously I feel lucky to get to be part of it all. I'm aiming to update daily with all the madness but in the meantime follow along in all the other various places. First show is at 9am!

Charlie May SS12

Charlie May debuted her SS12 collection yesterday in London.

Out of every show I'll see this season, this is the one I've been most excited about. After visiting Charlie's studio a couple months ago I couldn't wait to see how everything would come together. The transformation from a rough sketch to the finished product really is mind boggling. Each piece was so well tailored and the finishing was perfect. I'm itching to get my fingers on something and there's the most beautiful little motorcycle jacket that I've got my eye on...

Charlie's taking personal orders. Find her e-mail on her website here.

Monnier Frères

I'm a big sucker for accessories. Mostly because I tend to dress pretty simple... yes, I'm addicted to grey t-shirts and jeans. What can I say? I'm a girl of simple pleasures. So, when I found out about Monnier Frères, a French company specializing in luxury accessories, I was instantly hooked. They have loads of great brands that are hard to find. 3.1 Phillip Lim (the pashli bag has been on my wishlist for over a year - swooon), Jil Sander, Isabel Marant... plus tons of gorgeous labels that I'd never heard of before - but have now fallen in love with. Their English site is launching soon and I'll be doing a few guest posts for their blog... so ch-ch-check it out little chickens.

Wearing: DVF bag, Cutler and Gross sunglasses, Elena Meyer necklace (all from Monnier Fréres). Trouve white t-shirt (which I'm practically living in these days), 7 for all Mankind jeans and Topshop shoes.

Hanging on

It's hot. Summer still seems to be holding on in Zurich. It's 30C today and it's the last weekend that Letten, the river by my house, will be open. As far as I'm concerned, after today summer is over. All I've been wearing are simple neutral basics... denim cut offs, black stretchy skirts and white t-shirts. It's my failsafe summer wardrobe. Tomorrow I'm headed to London for two weeks - for fashion week and a couple other projects. I think it will be officially time to embrace autumn dressing.

Wearing: Trove t-shirt, Monki skirt, Super sunglasses, Topshop scarf and sandals.

p.s. the water behind me in these photos is the river I've spent the entire summer by.

La femme

As soon as I saw Maison Scotch's aw11 collection I was sold. I love the mix of masculine and feminine details - the tough leather jackets and skin tight skinny jeans mixed with Parisian style peacoats and army parkas. The colour palette is spot on. The pops of red next to rich navys, denim and black are exactly what  I want to be wearing this season. Every single look I love and want to wear right now. I swear I could cut and paste my head onto any of the outfits and think it was a something I've worn... okay, minus the red beret.

It's almost enough to get my wishing for colder weather. Almost.

p.s. the campaign and look book is totally gorgeous. Check it out here.

eBay in Stockholm

Last week I was invited out to Stockholm for eBay's autumn/winter advertising shoot. Yeah, I was surprised at first too... eBay do advertising shoots?

Last week I was invited out to Stockholm for eBay's autumn/winter advertising shoot. Yeah, I was surprised at first too... eBay do advertising shoots?

From the pages of Vogue to the walls of the underground - I remember seeing the images from last year everywhere. I wasn't really sure what they were all about though. Turns out there's a little outlet tucked within the pages of eBay that offers new products from high street brands at up to 70% off - this is the direction that eBay are moving. Don't worry, they wont be getting rid of 99p vintage bargains anytime soon. It's just an addition to what they have already become known and loved for.

Sara Dunn did the most incredible job at styling the shoot. Why do I always think I need to buy brand new pieces from designer shops to create great outfits? She used last season's pieces and still managed to create inspiring looks. Besides just playing with all the accessories, I also presented a behind the scenes video that will be available to view later this month...

Massive thank you to Rachel for inviting me out and Daniel for being the ultimate chef.

Sunset

Sunset on the balcony in a hybrid skirt-top-dress... mustard pleats worn with a leather-front/grey-jersey-backed top felt perfectly transitional. I really need to find a black leather jacket to replace this more summery jersey biker style one that I've been wearing to death. It's looking rather ragged and has definitely seen better days. Anyone have any suggestions on where to find one? I'm thinking buttery soft, slightly cropped, fitted... and at a price that wont break the bank.

Wearing: American Apparel large leather clutch, Madewell jacket, Topshop ambush boots (not pictured) and top/skirt stolen from Shini's closet.

Box Boutique

Next Thursday night Vogue Fashion's Night Out is hitting London. I'm sure you already know all about the madness that takes place as shops are taken over by crates of champagne and DJs. It all sounds more like a massive party than a shopping experience - and I like it.  If you make it out be sure to pop into the Box Boutique on Maddox Street where Matthew Zorpas will be hanging out. When I visited the shop I couldn't stop swooning over all the amazing shoes and body jewelry. Just be careful not to slurp down too many drinks before heading over - it could get dangerous.
